Sightseeings Vinodolski

The Frankopan Castle (Kaštel)

The Frankopan castle was built in the 13th century during the reign of the Frankopan family; course of time had its share so today one can only see the remains of once magnificent castle.

The Remains of Lopar town

One can still see the remains of Lopar town on the very coast of the Adriatic; the town of Lopar was most likely Roman fortification.

The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary

The Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary stands on the hill Osap as well as the remains of the Paulist Monastery from the 15th century.

The church of St Philip and Jacob

Even though this church was probably built during the 14th century it was continually worked on and so today this beautiful church bears features of the Gothic period as well as the Baroque period. One can find valuable wood carvings, two silver reliquaries from the 15th century as well as Glagolitic codex (also from the 15th century) inside the church.

The town of Novi Vinodolski is of great importance for the Croatian history, and "The Vinodol Code" written in Glagolitic alphabet is a true historic treasure offering insight into the life of the 13th century; however for those who come to visit this town or to spend their holiday here "Kolo" of Novi Vinodolski which is an old dance of this town as well as national costume of Novi Vinodolski (especially those of women) could be quite interesting to see.
